YouTube Content ID

Everything you need to know about monetizing your music on YouTube.

What is Content ID and how can artists earn money from it?

YouTube Content ID is an automated system that identifies your music in videos uploaded across YouTube. When Crystl Ground delivers your tracks to Content ID, YouTube scans its platform for matches. If someone uses your song in their video, a claim is placed on that video, and ad revenue generated from it is collected and paid to you.

What music is eligible for Content ID?

To be eligible, you must own exclusive rights to the music.

Not Eligible:

Are Content ID claims the same as copyright strikes?

No. A Content ID claim is simply a way for you to track or monetize your music. It does not negatively affect the uploader’s channel standing. A Copyright Strike is a legal takedown request which can harm a channel. We use Content ID to help you earn, not to punish creators.

How can I avoid Content ID claims on my own channel?

If you upload your own music to your Official Artist Channel, you might see a claim from us. This is normal! It means the system is working. To "allowlist" your channel so you don't receive claims on your own uploads, please contact our support team with your Channel ID, and we will update your permissions.
